CatPrint offers a wide variety of finishing options. Our finishing is done using state of the art finishing equipment designed specifically for digital short run printing.
Use the Finishing dialog to select the finishing option for your job.
Remember that your job size is specified before finishing. So for example a 5 X 7 finished greeting card would be 10 X 7, and an 8.5 X 11 trifold brochure, finishes to approx 3.6" X 8.5.
Here is a brief description of our finishing types:
No Fold:
Your pieces will be cut to the size that you specify.
Rounded:
Your pieces will be cut to the size that you specify, only with rounded corners.
Single Fold:
For bulletins, newsletters and greeting cards. However, for greeting cards, keep in mind that if you have a full bleed (print to edge) card, we will "pull" approximately 1/8 of an inch of your artwork from the front of the card to the back. This is a standard practice in the industry and results in great looking fronts and edges. Also remember that greeting cards need to have a 1/16" lip on the front. That is the front which will be slightly bigger and hang over the back of the card. This makes the card easier to open.
Letter Fold:
For tri-fold brochures. Can also be used for tri-fold greeting cards.
Z-Fold:
Another style great for brochures.
Double Fold:
For larger format brochures. Recommended only for letter weight papers.
Spiral Bound and Wire Coil Bound:
Both binding types can accommodate over 100 pages of letter paper. Spiral bound uses a plastic coil which is very durable. Wire coil uses a straight wire coild which ensures that when opened, the top and bottom edges of the page will be aligned. We recommend wire coil for calenders and other artistic pieces and spiral bound for items such as cookbooks and catalogs that need to withstand abuse.
Staple Booklet:
Also known as "saddle-stitched." This is perfect for booklets and magazines that have fewer than 48 pages total. With stapled booklets, the number of finished pages will always be divisible by 4. For example: 16, 20, or 32 pages. Pricing is based on the unfinished spreads. To determind how many spreads you will have, take the total number of pages and divide by two. Pocket Folders:
Pocket folders hold 8.5x11 sheets of paper and include a business card slot on the right hand pocket. Your outside design may be full bleed (print to edge), in which your unfinished print file should measure 11.75x17.75.
